Not Men of Honor

Ordered trailer with sales person and received an email verifying specifications. Trailer was "ready" approximately 3 weeks later than promised. Drove 10 hrs, one way, only to wait for another two hrs. The trailer they brought out could not be fixed - it was a 6 ft tall enclosed trailer, when I ordered a 7 ft tall. I left Georgia, driving and waiting nearly 24 hrs, having spent nearly $200 on the trip, with no trailer behind my truck. I was promised that they would deliver my trailer at no charge. 2 months later, I ended up having to drive back to pick up my trailer because they would not honor their promise. I was not compensated in any way. To make matters worse, I had to immediately overlay the trailers floor with another layer of 3/4" ply. There were so many voids in the cheap plywood that they installed, they it couldn't hold my bikes in it without flexing and cracking. These people are despicable human beings - the lot of them, from the owner to the lowly office manager.

Hurricane Cargo Trailer - Don't Buy

We purchased a 8'x14' enclosed alum cargo trailer for our motorcycles. When we ordered the trailer, we were told it would be done in 30 days. When the 30 days were almost up, we received a call telling us that it would be another 15 days. We live in NY. We took the long trip down to Georgia to pick up the trailer. We arrived first thing in the morning. When inspecting the trailer we found the following problems: 1. The side door was supposed to have a camper style latch so it could be opened and closed from the inside. They had put a bar type latch on the door. We were told that the bar could not be removed, but they did install the other lock and latch. 2. There was no spare tire in the trailer, we had paid extra for one. They had to search for one. 3. When we looked under the trailer, we noticed that at the end of the frame, they had not welded it closed. It was all open and all the *** (salt, ice, snow or mud) would go up inside the frame. Plus that was a space in the wheel well inside the trailer where all the *** would come inside. We made them fix that before we left. 4. When we went inside to finalize the paperwork, we noticed that they had put down that the trailer was a 16' instead of a 14'. So we had to wait for that change. We took the trailer back to NY and then down to Florida a couple months later. After we got back to NY, we noticed that the tires were already wore out. The axles must not be welded straight. We have to put a new pair of tires on the trailer every year after our trip from NY to FL and back. I guess you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, get cheap.

I bought a 14' trailer in 2011, I could not be more satisfied with the quality and service when I picked up the unit. I use the unit every weekend at a farmers market for nine months of the year, travel no less than 90 miles each weekend.

A great unit!!!! I am going to buy a new unit for expanding the business this spring and GatorTail is the way I will go.

Upon Further inspections(Once I Returned Home)...POOR Welding(lot of Burn-Trough's & JUST POOR WELDS)...the Paint "They say...Look Under Our Competitors Trailers...There Rusted Before they Leave the Factory" SAME HERE POOR Coverage Or No Paint AND Rusted BEFORE It Leaves The Factory... Did Not Have ALL The Options I had asked For and Was In THE QUOTE...I Was Told..."It Is Finished...C'mon Down and get it"...Only After I Finally Called at eight and a Half WEEKS Later...I Noticed the Some of Discrepancies...OR ELSE They Would Have Just Taken MY CASH And Let Me Go...Tried Calling For Some Kind of Retribution after I Returned Home and Noticed The OTHER Things...NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL...NO PRIDE...NO INTGRITY...NOTHING...They Avoid Your Calls...THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY...That Is ALL THEY WANT...Do Not Forget...The...NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT...THEY DO Stand Behind That...Plus...The time You Have To Wait It Is Hard to Get Credit Back on Your Credit Card...Then IF You are there to Pick Up Your Trailer and Travel Any Kind Of Distance...What You Gonna Do??? Bought a trailer from these guys to haul my sprint car. I wanted to have a trailer that I could leave the wing on my car when I load it.

Could not get anyone to even listen to me.

Husky stepped up and built my dream trailer! No complaints here!

Guest

I picked up an 8.5x28 last year and am currently waiting on my 7x14 to be built. Had to sign paperwork when I placed the order and even more when I picked up.

They make you comb through the trailer to make sure it's correct. Don't know why you even signed off and left the property, but either way I've had the complete OPPOSITE experience you have.

Guest

So lets see, you signed papers that said it was built exactly to your specs and was given all the time you wanted to inspect.

You either:

1. Made a mistake when you ordered your trailer and missed your mistake when you signed the order

2.

you are another factory.

Either way it is obvious you are a liar!

Me and my friends have purchased several from this company and I can attest to their integrity and honesty. the rest of you can decide for yourself....

Guest

Beware of this poster! It is from a competitor.

Husky Cargo requires each customer to carefully inspect each trailer and then complete several documents one of which states that the trailer is built to the order specs and that it is acceptable to the buyer. The company will jump thru hoops to correct any problems including paying for hotel expenses if needed. Also, I have had no problems reaching them by phone.

This poster is most likely a competitor who is in GA. Husky save buyers money by selling factory direct and other trailer companies hate them.

Poor construction

within the first 12 months of ownership on my 24' "premium" trailer the following happened: Lights didn't work when I picked it up, right off the factory floor. Had to fix in a wal-mart parking lot up the street. All the paint flaked off - they use *** paint with no primer, so the entire bottom had no paint within a year and looked like a boat anchor. The aluminum they use is so thin that any exposure to salt causes it to rot through wherever it's touching steel - the entire exterior skin will need replacement pretty soon. their "one piece seamless roof" is neither one piece nor seamless. And is just galvanized flat steel. It's already leaking. It was cheap, but I definitely got a *** trailer for what I paid.

I did my research on this company. The poster below is not telling the truth.

Husky has had no complaints that this poster mentions. they are not even listed on GA BBB. The FL BBB shows not even one complaint.

And the other company he posts about are owned by different people. Don't believe me.

Look it all up on corporate web site for your self.

As for you comment about charge backs, sounds like you are one of those low-life that use charge backs to STEAL from companies! Bet you even bought a new flat screen and then filed charge back so you could get it for free.

You competitors will resort to anything it seems.........

Guest

I love my husky trailer! My experience was the opposite of what this poster says.

I have heard that husky is hated by competition cause they sell direct and beat other prices.

Do you own research and don't believe what any one posts. Also, this company had nothing to do with that company hurricane.

I did my research to find this out. So can you.

Yea. I bet You Do.

You Also Probably Work For them. HUSKY CARGO, Tampa. IS. Hurricane.

Gatortail. Whatever they Are Calling Themselves Now.

They Are In Tampa Now...Because Georgia Had Enough Of them. Too Many Complaints to the Governor of the State To the BBB and Owing the City of Fitzgerald GA Money. Not To Mention.

Who Knows How Much Money in Taxes are NOT Being Disclosed. Seems How The Want CASH.

At That. IF YOU Have To TRAVEL ANY Distance. Remember.

That WILL ADD A Couple MORE DAYS And Expense ONTO Your Trip. For a POOR Quality Trailer. You are Not Really Saving ALL THAT MUCH. How they say.

Buying Factory Direct.

Remember. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

I Also Notice there NON-REFUNDABLE Deposit On CUSTOM Built Trailers Has Gone-Up to 50%. GEE.

I wonder Why...

If They Build Your Trailer Wrong (Not As You Ordered ie CUSTOM). They Will Just Let You Wait and Wait Until It is To Late for Your Credit Card Company To do a Charge Back. You Know like NOT Respond or Answer Phone Calls or emails. Caller ID Is a Wonderful thing...Yes?

As Is Block Sender. IF You Made Contact with them Through eBay and they sell to You Outside of eBay. Be Sure to Call and File a Complaint With eBay. This is a Direct Violation with eBay's Policy.

866-405-****. They are a Top Rated Seller. Because they sell Parts as well as Buy Items to get a High Feedback Rating. You Will Notice Most Listings are Private Listings.

Meaning It could be anything. They Use The System to *** You With there Slick Talking Sales Reps Worse than a Used-Car Salesman.

Hurricane Cargo Trailers - Perpare to be ripped off.

Hurricane Cargo: 1. Knowingly building and delivered a sub standard quality trailer. (As evident in the photos of the trailer taken by a Hurricane Cargo employee at their facility prior to shipping the trailer to me.) 2. Refused to acknowledge and reply to 5 warranty request. (Filed using their official web site and their warranty request forms.) Refused to answer calls from existing paid customers. (Unless (existing customers use a different area code and phone number.) 3. Refusing to answer emails. 4. Failing to keep their word and promises to look into the issues and follow up, and get back to their customers. 5. Refusing to honor their warranty. 6. Threatening their customers by demanding I remove my BBB complaint before they would even look at the trailer. Mike Gatewood wants to hold me responsible by paying the round trip cost to return to him his poorly constructed trailer that he knowingly built and shipped to me. The cost for this would be one-half the cost of what I paid for the trailer. And for this cost according to The Owner Mike Gatewood, I would have to remove my BBB complaint before he would even consider looking at the trailer. Not repairing it, mind you this is to just consider looking at it. So to his proposed threat I submitted this response to Mike Gatewood that he has to date refused to accept. Letโ€™s get a third party inspection of the trailer, before we go any further. Due to the nature of events and the lack of responses the refusal to acknowledge or reply to numerous phone calls, emails and 5 warranty request forms filed on Hurricanes web site; that, if no issues are found I will not only pay for the inspection, I release hurricane cargo from all warranty claims. I will as you (Mike Gatewood) demanded I do before you would even consider looking at the trailer to make repairs; I will remove my BBB complaint and write apologies and post them for all to see. But if problems do exist and are identified then hurricane cargo should approve all repairs by a local outside repair facility and pay all cost. Then I will write the BBB and explain that Hurricane Cargo did after much to do, stand behind their product and honor their warranty by make all required repairs and effectively to my satisfaction, resolved all issues. I have suggested this before and believe. You Mike Gatewood have ignored this request to have an impartial third party inspect of the trailer because you already know my claims are true and justified. A Certified Truck and Trailer Repair Facility tried for over a month, to contact Hurricane Cargo several times by phone and email to talk to them about the trailer and get their conditions for approving an inspection. Hurricane Cargo REFUSED to talk to them. Refused to respond to the messages they left with Hurricane Cargo via Hurricane Cargoโ€™s email and phone mail box systems. And the one time Hurricane Cargo did by mistake answer the phone and promised to get back to them, YOU NEVER DID. Please note: Mike Gatewood must approve the inspection so that the inspector can if needed, do more then a visual inspection in accordance to a mutually agreed set terms for the inspection; to correctly identify what the cause of a given problem is. If they do anything other then a visual inspection without Mike Gatewoods approval it voids the warranty. Despite what Mike Gatewood wants people to believe the Hurricane Cargoโ€™s warranty contract as written at the time I purchased my trailer states that repairs can be made by outside repair facilities. Having knowingly built and shipped a sub standard quality trailer as evident in the pictures they took of the trailer at their facility prior to shipping it then sent to me and the delivery persons request that I sign a statement that there was no driver damage, Hurricane Cargo should by all rights approve the third party inspection, approve repairs by a local certified repair facility and cover all cost involved. For over a month the repair facility called and emailed Hurricane Cargo several times. They only managed to talk to one Hurricane Cargo employee and were told by that person they would forward the inspection request and get back to them. Guess what, they never heard back from anyone. NOTHING, NOT-A-WORD..... I didn't want to use them a free storage facility so I picked up the trailer. When I did they handed me an envelope, I was ready to pay them for their service but when I opened the envelope I found a statement by them which stated their finding of their visual inspection of the trailer. The statement is a simple clear statement that basically says the craftsmanship of the trailer is lacking and in need or repair. Reason why this Brand new trailer was at a certified repair facility is explained below. The other day a friend and I took a good look at the trailer. On the out side skin, we found the aluminum trim on the top of the trailer (the side where the skin wrinkled and had gaps) had bends in it, that popped outward. This is what allowed the skin to move and every time the trailer is driven, this slop lets the skin bounce around becoming distorted and looking massively wrinkled, it does settle back into place after sitting for a few weeks which tells me it needed to be corrected immediately before it get bounced around to the point of requiring removal and re-installation. Fits right in with what the 3M Corporation tech division tech stated could be the problem. No thanks to Mike Gatewood owner of Hurricane Cargo who said โ€œhis 3M peopleโ€ looked at the pictures that he said show nothing and said the skin look just fine and that they have seen worse. Funny thing about the pictures Mike Gatewood said show nothing, is that 3M Corp. was able to identify and explain possible causes by looking at the "same picture" that help me figure out was needed to be done to repair the outer skin. Required repair: Remove the screw and tweak the trim strip so it lays flat then press down placing light pressure so it lays flat with no gape while re-screw then re-seal it. However doing this would suck the trim down against the outer wall and the trim and walls at the top may bend inward and outward to match the wall stud placement. Conclusion: Sloppy craftsmanship they just didn't take the time to do the job correctly, and if they have a finial inspection they didn't care enough to correct the problem. The inside skin, gonna need a LOT more work. The angle trim that runs the full length down the right and left side of the trailer and is used to hold the aluminum siding ends securely to the wall and ceiling to prevent movement is not flush. Like the outside trim it is wavy and allowed the skin to move. They did however fill he gaps with white silicon seal so it looked good and looked flush for their pictures, but it didn't hide all. The problem is when the trailer was driven the movement broke the silicon seal loose were all the gape are which allows the skin to move. Also it appears they did not bother to remove the slack in the aluminum panels as they screwed them in place which created the budging or bowing look in between the screws that it now has and may continue to get worse as the trailer get more use. Since the silicon seal is broken there is no longer anything to keep the panels starched tight and wrinkle free, the gapes between the screws are here to stay until Mike Gatewood decides to stand behind his product, honor his warranty and showing some pride and integrity by owning up to the truth by covering the cost of repair due to his companies lack of quality. The placement of the aluminum panels is such that where they did use double sided tape, the tape has in some spots stretched to the point that it started to rip leaving tape on both surfaces. After transporting the trailer for a few hundred miles you can actual see past the ripped tape into the space between the inner and outer walls. Required repair: Remove the trim pieces remove the sheeting replace the 3M double sided tape and re-attach it making sure it lays flush against the backing (wood) and there are no gape when screwing it back on, then correctly reattach the trim strips. A massive job, this is why Mike Gatewood hides from his customers. Conclusion: Same as above, this also fits the possible cause for tape failure that 3M Corp tech division tech described, caused by sloppy craftsmanship they just didn't take the time to do the job correctly, and if they have a finial inspection they didn't care enough to correct the problem. Spare tire mount: The spare tire is mounted in the wrong place. While it is as high on the wall as it can be it is only 39 inches off the ramp deck. A car mirror is 41 inches off the ramp deck, a little problem which could result in a very expansive repair. Required repair: Remove the tire mount and relocate it up front out of the way where it should have been mounted. Problem, it appears they added a brace plate for the mount inside the wall. I do not know this for sure but it sounds a lot more solid behind the tire mount then any other section of walls. Conclusion: Poor design, poor planning, lack of knowledge, etc. you pick. Incorrect ramp angle: Without voiding and warranty LOL! I drove my car up the ramp to see exactly the what, where and why the car bottoms out on the ramps. Any car loaded into my trailer lower the 4.5 inches off the ground will bottom out and chew up the ramp, side skits on the car and rear suspension. Required Repair: Correctly rebuild the ramps. Since I am not going to do that. Temporary Solution: Add a 3/4 inch high ramp raiser correctly positioned on the up ramps in the trailer (not the door) Conclusion: The sales people LIED after receiving my car specks (distance from front tire to leading edge of the front chin spoiler, and distance from the ground to the bottom of the car plus more) when he told me I would not have any problems loading my car in or out of the trailer, that they load cars 2 inches off the ground without any issues. Or the ramps were incorrectly built. Or the so called race ready packages ramps are not built for race cars, modified street/race cars or possibly any car that has modified suspension. Or a monumental failure on the part of Hurricanes Cargo's R&D department. Take your pick. Cabinets: There is nothing I can do with them. The craftsmanship in building, assembly, framing and installing is simply lacking, the frames and doors, need to be completely removed and rebuilt from the ground up. To do anything other then that would look even worse. Conclusion: The worse work I have every seen, I have remolded houses and worked construction in my younger days and I have NEVER seen anything this bad. The rest of the repairs: Eventually I may need to address the lack of support for the front ramp trim pieces that leave the trim flimsy mounted and ready to come off. Hopefully the ramps have settled and will not continue to cave in under the weight of the tires and will not require work. Note my car is lighter or equal to the weight of a like stock car. The edge of the ramp that was pulled up and ready to puncher a tire, I pressed back into place. The hole on the door step is due to either incorrectly cutting aluminum short or sloppy construction. It will remain as is and look exactly like what it is poor, sloop, don't care craftsmanship. The broken escape door rivet that is waiting to slice open some one hand MUST be replaced. This was done by a worker who was lazy, just doesn't care or is so rushed that they just don't pay attention or have the time to make corrections to fix mistakes. The brake-away safety solenoid was repaired, I removed the broke bolt and correctly fastened the solenoid to the trailer. If they can not even tighten a bolt correctly, well, what can anyone say when the safety devise designed to prevent accidents and save lives is dandling off the trailer when it should have been properly fastened to the trailer and is one of the simplest items to attach, a no brainer or so one would have though up until now. The sloppy silicon seal job that is on the roof looks bad but it looks like it will do what it needs to, at least I hope. There is enough silicon sealer on the roof vent to seal every window and door in my house twice and I have a lot of window. I only hope they did not cut the aluminum roof panel incorrectly around the vent and decided to use a couple gallons of silicon sealer to fill in the gaps and prevent leakage. Once I figure a way to get up there without stepping on the roof, I will inspect the four foot square section of silicon sealer around the 8 inch vent. YES its that bad. The sloppy silicon seal job on the roof edges will be removed and correctly resealed the way it should have been done by Hurricane Cargo with no holes and gaps. The missing foot, I was told trailers do not come with a front jack foot that they are purchased separately, so I bought one. Over all conclusion. Hurricane Cargo's customer relations, and customer service is non existent, I taught customer relation to many service agents and provided class room and on the job training of customer relation, complete service and installation of equipment at all skill levels across America so I know what I am talking about. I wanted to believe that Hurricane cargo was trying to get my trailer to me on time as promised per the condition to lock in the sale. After reading up on Hurricane Cargo I now believe they either lied to me or fell behind and started rushing the work which lead to a poor quality trailer with poor craftsmanship that was sloppily assembled. Regardless, to knowingly push a poorly built trailer out the door and dump it on a customer is inexcusable and to take the position that your customers are responsible for your failure to build a quality product and your refusal to acknowledge issues, warranty request, or stand behind their product by honoring their warranty through highly unreasonable demands; considering you are the one that knowingly built and shipped this poorly built trailer. Hurricane Cargo's action and lack of tell the story of a company that one should not do business with unless you are willing to take a loss.

NOTICE TO ALL READERS OF THIS POST!

This posters is talking about Hurricane Cargo, yet he blames husky Cargo. Hurricane sold its assets to husky who is owned by totally different owners.

No relationship.

And, notice this poster states in one post that HE PICKED UP HIS TRAILER.

Then in another post, he says IT WAS DELIVERED TO HIM!

Obviously another competitor trying to disparage a company that's cuts out the middle man and gives us all factory direct prices!

Are you on drugs. Where in the the post above yours did it blame or say anything about Husky Cargo.

Guest

How pathetic you are! You go all out to lie and try and cover the real truth.

You were provided all the time needed inspect your trailer just as I did. Then you signed documents that said your trailer was built exactly per your specs. and that you accepted it!

I wish Husky would start posting copies of signed documents like your so all can see the truth.

I am going to contact them and see if they will post yours. Then let's see what rock you try and hide under.....

Guest

Well snakebite, I purchased a trailer from them as well. I was very impressed by their pickup process and staff.

My cs rep handed me a detailed inspection checklist and gave me all the time I needed to completely inspect every aspect of my trailer. The list required me to check off the items I inspected. After that, I was presented with an a trailer acceptance document that required me to sign that I have thoroughly inspected my trailer, it was built to my order specifications, and finally, that I accept the trailer. Now friend, I am sure that you had to do the same thing.

This falls right back in your lap because you had the option of not accepting the trailer. My question is, how could you have so many problems with it, yet inspect it and sign documents that there were no problems?

well anonymous it I was delivered to me and the defects wee noted. It was is such bad condition the person delivering the trail asked me to take a close look at it and add the following sentence.

"NO DRIVE DAMAGE" which there was not.

All instructions for reporting warranty repair service were follow.

Mike Gatewood REFUSED to accept all 5 of his required warranty request. Mike Gatewood refused to answer all incoming phone calls UNLESS I used a different phone with a different are code they they answered the phone immediately, listened made premisses they never kept and never followed up.

Mike Gatewood attempted to intimidate me telling me that he would only conciser LOOKING at the trail if I dropped my BBB complaint, all documented and sent to the BBB as part of the RECORD.

Mike Gatewood REFUSED a third party inspection and mediation. even with the conditions that if what I was claiming was not true I would pay all cost write public apologizes and post them, everywhere for all to see, write the BBB and drop the complaint, and release them from their warranty and ALL Future warranty claim.

Mike Gatewood REFUSED this offer confirming he is he KNOWINGLY Build and sells sub quality products.

Mike Gatewood is as everyone claims a fraud.

Follow up on repairs.

I have been mading required repairs to this trailer to make if usable and allow me to drive a car into and out of if without further damaging the trailer and car. However to do this without uninstalling the ramps and reinstalling them correctluy so that I do not void the worthless warranty means the ramps look a bit unsightly.

I have repaired a shorted wire in the rear light drivers side, Thankfully I the short blowout my trucks fuse, and took out all the lighting at NIGHT no less when the lights are needed.

I was able to stick to the rural country roads and made it home ticket free, it took a while to trace down the short but I found it and it provided a great opportunity to repair the shoddy trim work.

Instead of removing the shoddy trimming on the rear of the trailer I had the local steelwork shop made two stainless trim pieces to over lay the bottom portion of the edge trim plate then attached and SEALED it. To replace the complete trim piece would have cost just under $1,000.00 to have it made to fit and installed and would not have match the other side...

I have sealed the large portion of the under carriage that they did not seal.

I had a new spare tire mount made and installed up front where it can not cause any damage. I have repaired cabinet draws to that they can be opened, repaired the latches so that they do not stick in the shut position โ€“that was fun.

Made plates to transaction to door to the ramps so cars do not drop down and smash the front splitters. Removed the poorly designed trim on the flip section of the door that is the transitions the car to the door. It seem the trim piece has a wider inside diameter then the thickness of the door and EVERY TIME a car driven over it to load and unload the car it would mash down until the screws no longer held it in place and it was dangling. Required a trim piece made of stronger material with a wedged lip welded to it.

Apparently the thickness of the door does not match any existing tin or aluminum trimming. Therefore will NEVER hold up without modification. I have used the trailer several times and have found a new problem requiring immediate repair before it could be used again. I have also made other repairs and modification spending hourโ€™s correction weeks and hundreds of dollars on repairs and making the trailer usable without damaging it or cars or voiding the worthless warranty.

My last usage proved to be trouble freeโ€ฆ. Finally after rebuilding the trailer sue to POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP parts poorly screwed together and coming apart of falling off; hopefully now the trailer is issue free. Heck I have repair or rebuilt almost the whole dam trailer. I will continue to follow up when I have time or if any new issues show up.

It is the least I can do for the Dishonorable and un Ethical Michael Gatewood.

Coralynn Fpu

My Follow up.

I made an offer to Michael Gatewood that he refused.

Michael Gatewood sent me an email in which he stated I would have to remove my BBB Complaint before he would even consider looking the trailer and making any repairs, if they were needed.

If I could not trust Michael Gatewood to stand behind his work or honor his warranty why would I be able to trust him at his word that he โ€œwould considerโ€ not he would repair but he would โ€œCONSIDERโ€.

So in response to Michael Gatewoods weak attempt of continued deception I made him this offer to which I believe was/ is more then fair and gave Michael Gatewood the opportunity to redeem himself and his companyโ€™s honor, dignity and ethics.

Michael Gatewood by not answering or replying refused this offer and ended all communications. Here is the offer.

Agree to have a third party inspection of the trailer. (This is required so that the warranty is not voided.) Then if the inspection finds any of the problems I have stated exist you will make the repairs under warranty. Then I will Write to the BBB and explain to them that after much to do you did to my satisfaction make all the required repairs and I am therefore retracting my complaint. If the inspection shows that the issues I have stated do not exist then I will pay all cost, write the BBB and retract my complaint and apologies and post my apology for all to see.

I will also release Hurricane Cargo from its warranty contract and all future warranty issues. Needless to say Michael Gatewood did not and has not responded. This tells - EVERYONE - all they need to know about Michael Gatewood and his lack of business ethics.

Whether it is Hurricane Cargo or any other business re-naming he has chosen to use, and I hear he has changed the name of his business several times. STAY away form this Profession Fraudulent Scam Artist.

I was seriously considering purchasing a husky trailer before reading all the negative reviews. A few negatives can be thought to be the work of a few disgruntled purchasers but the overwhelming complaints in so many reviews does not make one feel very comfortable about doing business with this company. Hard to believe the two owners Gatewood & whatever his name is are still breathing.

Your facts are just overwhelming.(NOT) Why not offer just one instead of just trying to slam a company. BTW, the company has built tens of thousands of trailers so the handful of complaints are insignificant. Another competitor I suppose...

Hurricane Cargo enclosed trailer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
ย I gave a deposit on 8.5x24 enclosed (they insisted out of ebay as it would just take longer to get the trailer using ebay-1st red flag) May 2013 I sent approximately $1500, I was moving from NJ to Florida and really needed my trailer to move, the trailer was delivered very late at night, but I was happy to not get ripped off as they delivered approximate 1 week past promissed date. ย I am not thrilled with the quality, but at least I have a trailer. The Funny, well not Funny part, most of you have been ripped off by this operation & my mother in-law stole/sold/gave away our belongings (7yrs of property-pictures-price-less items from grandmother-even kids bikes-entire house of item that were left for final pick up/run gone, wife still co owns with *** mother in-law) we came back up to make final load and she had EMPTIED the house and even had a renter inside so we could not even go inside, NJ law, true story, go figure, do your homeworkย  buying anything, lesson learned. Some times the cheap comes out expensive, get it in writing, pay extra for the peace of mind, reputation of sellers present practice. Oh do not trust your mother in-law, she may cost you as well. I own my house and live really far from her!!!!! Sorry to all that have been ripped off!!! God is Good, every dog has its day!!! even my mother in-law!!! *Note this is what happen to me and this is my story/opinion and it is not intended to hurt/defame or slander anyone. No TX, the poster gave the date May 2013 . This was before Husky Cargo was even in business.

Get your facts straight before trying to mislead people.

Sounds like your more pissed with you MIL than the trailer.

FYI: first of all its libel. the definition is "a published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation; a written defamation."

You made a statement about the quality of the trailer you bought, under the posting header of a company.

You also took the time to find a specific web site to post your "story".

Its obvious what your intention was.

The internet will turn out to be one of the worst tech advance in history.

People like this person can easily post whatever they want, even if it is not true or unproven.

Company knowingly builds low quality products leaving buyers with no recourse!!!

Updated by user Dec 23, 2013

HUSKY CARGO TRAILERS (Formerly Known As Hurricane Cargo Trailers) builds low quality products, list blatant fraudulent information as to the features and specifications on their web site, only takes CASH on the balance when you pick up your trailer and then expects you to return (HUNDREDS OF MILE) back to the factory to repair and/or replace items that should have easily been caught if they had ANY kind of quality control. They are currently under investigation by governmental agencies in both Georgia and Florida and by the United States Interstate Commerce Commission.

Original review Dec 19, 2013
Purchased a "custom built" 7 X 16 enclosed motorcycle hauler trailer picked up on 12/13/2013. Upon arriving we did an inspection of the trailer and found several problems . . . (1) The side "man" door lock was broken, someone had broken a key off inside the lock. A service person had to install a new RV type lock. Upon removing the old lock it was very evident the person who cut the hole for the lock in the aluminum skin did it very sloppily and the only way to conceal the bad cut was to goop lots of black silicone caulk around the lock. Didn't look real good but that's all the repair tech said he could do. (2) the rear license plate holder was falling off because all 4 of the screws holding it to the body/frame were stripped put. The repair tech used 4 larger screws to re-attach the holder to the rear door and again out came the black silicone caulk to try to "glue" the holder to the door. The crank to the rear scissors jack was missing and it took a while for someone to scout one up but they finally did. When I asked the repair tech to show us how the awning operated it got stuck when he first tried it and then continued to get stuck but his reply was that it was new and "tight" and had to get "broken in". With getting all the issues taken care of and the paperwork, we left the factory at 3:30 PM. Driving down the back roads to Tifton we drove very conservatively at 45 to 50 MPH so we really didn't notice anything wrong with the trailer "tracking". Stopped twice on the way to check the lug nuts as required and got into Tifton just before 5:00 PM. We decided to eat some dinner before getting back on the interstate so we didn't start our trip back to Tampa on I-75 until almost 6:00 PM. Once on the interstate, as we came up to highway speed at 55 MPH the trailer began to sway slightly. At 60 MPH the swaying was noticeably much more pronounced and at 65 to 68 MPH the sway was VERY bad and I almost lost control of the vehicle so we had to back down to between 55 and 60 MPH. Even at those speeds the "ride" was far from pleasant as we were on the edge of our seats trying to keep the vehicle from swaying out of control. It was too late to try to go back to the factory as it had already closed so we had no choice but to continue on to Tampa. While our trip from Tampa to Fitzgerald only took 4 hours and 15 minutes the return trip from Fitzgerald back to Tampa took more than 6 hours!!! I've had this type of problem before and it's not an issue of needing an "anti-sway" device installed. A 16 foot trailer properly built does not need an anti-sway device to track properly. The cause of this problem (in a trailer I previously owned) was due to the axles being welded to the frame slightly out of alignment to the frame. As little as 1/4" off can produce this problem. I am VERY knowledgeable in this as I have been welding since I was 11 years old (my grandfather was a blacksmith) and for 15 years I personally built and sold custom racing car frames (Open Wheel Modified, USAC Midgets and Sprint cars) as a side business. I very well know what a mis-alignment of axles welded to a frame will do as far as affecting the "handling" of a vehicle or tracking of a trailer. Also while I was driving on the Interstate I noticed in the rear view mirror, that on one fender I could see an "amber" light while on the other fender I saw a "red" light. At our next rest area stop I looked at the lights on the fenders and realized the person building the trailer had installed one of the lights on the fender backwards. The HuskyCargo web site advertises as a standard feature: "Pure Asphalt Under Coated Frame" however the entire under frame of my trailer is unpainted, the raw welds are clearly visible and the metal is already rusting. Also, where the factory installed the aluminum "side vents" you can see part of the frame and it's unpainted too, so I suspect that the entire frame of this trailer is totally unpainted and unprotected. There are screws sticking out of the floor and nails in the trim sticking out. The company also advertises as a standard feature: "Tubing chassis" however on my trailer only the 2 side rails and the rear rail are tubing, the rest of the floor is made up of inferior "S" rail which I specifically did not want and made a point to ask about when I ordered. In the next 24 hours as we had a better chance to totally inspect the trailer at home in Tampa, we discovered: (1) The rear ramp door does not operate correctly (open and close) because the right side pulley attached to the spring rod is loose and the ramp door is being assisted by only 1 cable on the left rather than 2 as designed. (2) The awning has been installed improperly. The left side awning support leg was screwed to the trailer crooked (from top to bottom) and is out of alignment causing the support arm to become stuck because it is catching on a rivet head at the top of the support arm. (3) This concerns the optional aluminum diamond plate fenders I ordered. The factory installed the WRONG SIZE fenders on the trailer. You can plainly see that the spacing looks very "off" because the fenders are too big for the wheels. The fenders installed on the trailer measure 72" long and are for a 20+ foot trailer. The correct size for trailers up to 16 feet is 68" long. The oversize fenders look absolutely horrible on this trailer and I was expecting "flat jeep style" fenders not the abortions that were installed on my trailer. After contacting the company their representative (MATT) said that I would have to return the trailer back to Fitzgerfald (a 6+ hour drive from Tampa) and leave it there for 2 day to have my issues addressed) - HOWEVER - when we picked up the trailer the company representative (MATT) stated severl times that if any issues were found when we returned home to Tampa, they would find a local source to correct these issues - LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!!! So now we have had to contact an attorney concerning these issues and also we have contacting both the Florida (because our factory sales agent RICK TUMBLESTON is located in Plant City, FL) attorney general and the Georgia attorney general in reference to fraudulent advertising on the web site and the factories deficiency in delivering a product matching the advertizing text. Also because the transaction occured over state lines we are also contacting the appropiate federal entities regulating interstate commerce to have them investigate potential fraudulent business practices. This company has a LONG HISTORY of questionable business practices and has regularily changed it's name to avoid civil action. They are and/or have been know as: HURRICANE CARGO, CYCLONE TRAILERS, PILOT TRAILERS, COMPASS TRAILERS, HUSKY CARGO and other names. THIS COMPANY (ET AL) IS TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

I bought my 2011 32' gooseneck in 2012 second-hand. I gotta tell y'all, I've towed that thing across the country a bunch of times (sometimes a tad heavier than rated) and have had pretty much no issues other than tires.

Follows well, lights haven't gone out at all, electric landing gear hasn't failed me, no leaks... In fact, today I'm having to make my first real repair, the forward roof vent is cracked. Holy cow! 32 bucks!

The humanity. Good buddy of mine has a 36' Haulmark that has had axle and electrical problems since day one. Remember, Hurricane's a budget manufacturer.

With the bargain I got on this thing, I actually figured the abuse I put on it would have sent it to trailer heaven already, but it keep on rolling. Are there things I'd change, sure but again, for what I paid, I'm happy.

Contact the BBB. Have the the Floria DA and your attorney contact the Georgia DA office they should have enough registered complaints against Micheal Gatewood to win your case with little effort.

Wow I am looking at a black and orange hurricane trailer on e bay now, and it looks great in the pics. I am SO glad I read up on this company before bidding! Thanks guys!

FYI: Opinions are not the same as facts. When someone lies and posts those lies in a public forum, it is "slander".

The poster below posted what turned out to be lies, based on the other posters using facts to prove it.

The web is a den of scammers that think they can post lies with the intent to harm individuals or companies. We all need to do whatever it takes to expose these scammers.

The last posting by โ€œSTINGโ€ which again is obviously a person connected with Husky Cargo Trailers, clearly exhibits the imbecilic nature of the persons working for or representing this company. My last post had nothing with getting โ€œa taste of my own medicineโ€.

I simply grew tired of their (Husky Cargo) juvenile attitude and questionable responses to the postings. As a matter of trying to close this issue, I just felt it was best for all parties to discontinue this nonproductive โ€œhe saidโ€ - โ€œhe saidโ€ banter. Then they make statements to me referencing my โ€œslanderโ€ towards them and โ€œhiding my IDโ€ (identity) when previously I acknowledged my identity (Gary De Michele), my location (Tampa, Florida) and my email address (garydemichele@***.com) when it was illegally disclosed by this company. These posts are placed by a person who has absolutely no knowledge of business law.

As a matter of common business law, a private person engaged in a private business transaction with a company is entitled to confidentiality (i.e. has an expectation of privacy unless they have signed a disclosure agreement allowing the business entity to use their name for any purpose publically), whereas the business, being a publically licensed entity, and publically advertising and marketing their product(s) does not share the same expectation of privacy. Therefore, Husky Cargo Trailers, the employee or persons (et al) representing them has illegally disclosed confidential information (my name, contact information, employer) supplied to them strictly for the purpose of conducting a business transaction.

Under the law, I have a legal right to publically express my opinions concerning the products and/or services of a public company that I had a business relationship with. The public company has no legal right to use any private information obtained in the scope of the business transaction supplied by a private individual for any purpose unless they can produce a legally endorsed waiver which allows then to use the purchaserโ€™s information for any other purpose other than a purchase.

No waiver was ever signed by myself in this case.

As for the posting by โ€œSTINGโ€ that states that the issues I have disclosed about the item (7 x 16 enclosed trailer) I purchased from Husky Cargo are false, my reply is that I have photographic and video evidence of every single issue (problem) I have disclosed and I will readily provide this evidence to whomever requests it.

The posting by โ€œSTINGโ€ also makes reference to my employer, Critical Response Security LLC, a company that since its inception in 2010 has never had ANY kind of negative comments or actions taken against them AND who has never had any type of business relationship with Husky Cargo Trailers AND a company in which I am strictly an employee (agency manager) and have no stake in the ownership what so ever AND they make slanderous statements about them. I am sure that the ownership of CRS will not take the statements made by โ€œSTINGโ€ lightly and respond with punitive civil action.

ALSO - Persons from this company previously responded to another post by โ€œlawnguy679โ€ who also expressed concern about problems they encountered with a trailer purchased from Husky Cargo and Husky Cargo stated that they were not in business at the time that person purchased their trailer (December 2013). Another false statement made by the Husky Cargo employee or representative. I also purchased my trailer in December 2013 and I have a โ€œbill of saleโ€ and an MSO (manufacturerโ€™s statement of origin) that clearly show the name of the company was indeed HUSKY CARGO TRAILERS and itโ€™s dated December 12, 2014!!!

How do you explain that???

I was willing to put aside all this nonsense and end this issue HOWEVER it seems that the persons connected with Husky Cargo are not, so I am forced to take this issue to the next level and I am asking ANY and ALL persons who have had problems with a product purchased from this company, please contact me at garydemichele@***.com so that we may document your issues also and aid in a potential โ€œclass actionโ€ punitive civil action being brought against this entity.

To all of you at Husky Cargo I say - I gave you an opportunity to end this but instead of being smart and keeping your mouth shut, you continue to illegally spew confidential information about your customers and slander other people and companies whom you have had no dealings with. We will endeavor to make you accountable for your actions through monetary punitive damages.

Finally! A poster gets a taste of his own medicine.

Tampagary was one of many that think they can slander and hide their ID.

I am so glad he got exposed and hope that others will come forward to expose the slimes that post whatever false info they want and think they can get by with it.

This Tamapgary guy seemed to go all out to slander this company but retreated fast when he got exposed.

I hope his potential customers will read these posts before doing business with him and his company.

Mr. Rick Tumbleson, Husky Cargo Trailers (et al) you are hereby advised to cease and desist posting any further comments concerning my purchase transaction and listing my name.

I am done with this whole Husky Cargo Trailer purchase transaction issue and will not initiate any more comments either. As far as I am concerned, the issue is closed permanently.

However, be aware that we are obtaining legal council and investigating the issue of my name being publicly listed and of possible slander against me and this could result in civil action being brought about against the entities noted. - GDM

This poster has posted on other pages. Its obvious he made a mistake on his trailer order and did not catch it when he read his order; if he even read his order.

then he picked up his trailer and carefully inspected it.

signed papers saying it was built to his specs.

This guy is an example of what is wrong in America. Take responsibility and stop blaming others.

I To Have Owned MANY a trailer In My Day. Husky Cargo IS THE WORST I HAVE DELT WITH.

Poor construction Poor Quality Parts Poor customer service(none) Only Positive was when Ordering the Trailer. I Couldn't Get ahold of Other Enclosed Trailer Manufacturers When I wanted to order a trailer (guessing they were to busy working on quality trailers as it was at the peak of the season). So don't be fooled buy the smooth talking sales person.

That IS there job. To SELL TRAILERS.
